Digestive Disease Center To Host Talk On Celiac Disease


 

Poughkeepsie, NY-July 23, 2012—Digestive Disease Center of the Hudson Valley, the region’s leading Gastroenterology group, is hosting a lecture on Celiac Disease on Wednesday, August 1, at 5:30 pm at its Fishkill office.

“When Gluten Becomes the Enemy” will be presented by Chandra Balusu, a New York State Certified Dietitian and Nutritionist with Digestive Disease Center.

Balusu, who writes a bi-weekly column on Food and Nutrition for The Poughkeepsie Journal, will discuss what gluten-free really means, diagnosis, signs and symptoms as well as how to read gluten-free labels. She will also explore how to stay on a gluten-free diet when you have multiple dietary challenges and offer tips on eating out when you’re on a gluten-free diet.

Ms. Balusu has an MS Degree in Food, Nutrition and Diet Therapy from S.V. University in Tirupati, India and BS Degree in Home Science from the Government College for Women in Guntur, India. Ms. Balusu is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an active board member of the Mid-Hudson Dietetic Association.

Digestive Disease Center’s Fishkill office is located at 400 Westage Business Center Drive, Suite 209. Refreshements will be served. Reservations are encouraged.
